Let's just say that when Lewis and I left Wilmington on Friday morning at 10:00 am, we had no idea what a long day we had ahead of us!! We were so excited about a weekend getaway in Maggie Valley, NC with our dear friends. Little did we know.....we would never make it there! So, here begins our adventure on I-26....
This was us for over 4 hours!

The car isn't the ideal place to be in this much snow.

I think we are starting to move....no, just a foot or two.

At this point, we had come to terms with the fact that we were probably spending the night in our car. Luckily, we had a full tank of gas and my mom had given us a blanket and we had plenty of food and beer!

11:00 pm -The exit ramp...took us over 4 hours to travel 1/4 of a mile

11:45...yes, it took 45 minutes to get off the ramp....I have never been so happy in my life to see a bed!! The hotel had no power, but were operating on a generator, so we did have a room with heat!

Sat. morning...headed back down the mountain to Greenville...they had cleared the roads very well at this point.

Just a couple of the many cars we saw in ditches. So thankful we were not one of them.
So, as you can tell we never made it to Maggie Valley, but we were just so thankful to be safe and warm. I also kept thanking the Lord that we didn't have Anne Wells with us...she was nice and cozy at Pen and Boo's house. This will definitely be a weekend that we will never forget. We were very disappointed that we didn't get our weekend with our wonderful friends, but happy that we all made it home safe and sound....some just a little later than others!
